Quiet and Relaxation and... Tin Cans?

Work was the quietest it's EVER been while I was working there. Which isn't saying much since I've only experienced the Christmas rush and a tad bit before it. We finished work, and I mean EVERYTHING we could do 15 minutes before work actually was scheduled to end. Which is nice since we got off early but it's not for most people 'cause they didn't get their breaks. I actually didn't... but I got paid actually 15 minutes more than I should so I'm happy~

So I'm going to have a very relaxing New Years... NOT.

Anyways nothing much to post.

I just wanted to add tin cans 'cause I was bored.

Losing Things, Drawing Tablets and... Collars?

So my brother's girlfriend was at the house today. I might as well say fiancee... but I shouldn't jinx it. They'll be going out for four years as of the ninth of next month. Anyways she was sitting on his bed telling him where everything should go in his room and reprimanding him for keeping the bits and pieces of his models when he didn't really need them.

It made me laugh to see him getting made fun of. I'm a sadistic little sister.

Anyways while she was in his room a button on her shirt popped off. I said I'd sew it back for her. And so I did. Then when she put it on, she put it on so it made her (already naturally over-sized) breasts look EVEN larger. If that's even possible.

So she basically finished cleaning his room for him. Then I got amused 'cause she sounded like she wanted to try cleaning MY room.

And I finally realized that I kind of did need to clean it.

So I walked down the ten foot hall, yelled at them not to invade my room (which my brother usually likes to do anyways without asking) and got to work. For five minutes.

Until I remembered I needed to install my Bamboo Pen and Touch software onto my computer. I got a new one for graduation... nearly 6 months ago... and I have yet to do anything with it up until today.

So I broke that out of its drawer, plopped in the installation software and sat down. I didn't know it wanted the tablet attached during the installation... so I let it run for twenty minutes before I realized that I had to do stuff. So then I dug the actual tablet out of its drawer of crap and plugged that in then ignored it for another twenty minutes, then realized I had to manually click buttons first.

Then calibrate the thing to make sure the tablet has an accurate reading.

So I did that and was playing around on facebook, scrolling with it when I realized that maybe I should do some tracing practices to get my handling down with the pen.

So I looked in my pencil cup on my desk, which I usually keep my most often used utensils, and it wasn't there.

My room likes to eat things. It so far has eaten and spat back my friends' Christmas presents' finishing touches, my camera charger/computer cable, and now the pen. So I went looking for it. That took me a while.

All in all if I were a more organized person I'd have gotten my tablet setup in twenty minutes... but I didn't so it took me an hour. Huzzah!

Anyways I reprimanded my closet and then sat down... and suddenly lost the desire to do any drawing tonight. Which is a horrible thing... 'cause it's much easier to use a tablet then it is to draw things on paper, scan it to the computer, then edit things with a mouse.

And I've used a mouse to edit things quite often. In my High School's CG class we weren't allowed to use tablets until the NEXT level up... which I should've been in but they didn't let me skip. All we did was use photoshop... and I can do that ASLEEP and HIGH and still make things that are better than most of that class's. (Though I've never tried to use my tablet either high or asleep... perhaps I should try the latter...)

So that was my afternoon. Also I acted super pissy to my boyfriend's sister... I sniped at her since I'm on my monthlies without noticing. I'm a horrible person when I'm on my monthlies... Sorry Ro...

I got another collared, black, longsleeved shirt from the thrift store. But this time it has gold piping... so it doesn't look exactly like the others.

And I've realized that I really like wearing collared shirts. Which I hated with a burning PASSION when I was a kid. I even hated ones that were crew-necked. They just felt tight; like they were strangling me. But now I like having that feeling like my shirt is giving me a hug.

Christmas, Ornaments and... Coffee?

Merry Christmas everybody! I hope you got what you were asking for.

It's funny. None of my family woke up today until like, 10 in the morning. My mom was planning to make coffee cake, which is my FAVORITE and ONLY beloved breakfast food (I do not count crepes... they're more of a snack food...) that I will actually eat DURING the morning hours.

I don't like all the sugar. I LOVE sweet things. As in, I will drown coffee in sugar because it's not sweet enough. That's how much I love sweets. But breakfast foods have just too much sugar in them.

Anyways there's an ornament on our Christmas tree that my mom got back in the day. I guess it was one of those short-run, one-year-only types of ornaments, 'cause I can't find ANY MORE of them online.

I've tried etsy, E-bay and I will try Amazon next. I hope Amazon has it. It's a cute little Victorian house that's a brown ceramic with some white ceramic on top to make it look like snow's fallen. The only problem with it is the fact that it's REALLY heavy. I think it's about half a pound or so. Which, for an ornament, is just a bit ridiculous.

But my mom loves it and so for her birthday (which is in June) or mothers' day, or some other random holiday I thought I'd get a couple more for her since she loves them so much.

But nope. They're nowhere to be found. I'm going to try Amazon once and see but so far NOTHING looks even remotely similar.

Nope.

Anyways my brother's girlfriend "Coraline" got an espresso maker from us this year as her Christmas present. So we decided to whip it out and try making something with it.

The first cup we used decaf coffee grounds, non-fat milk and tried it. The milk was cold and the espresso was really weak.

The second cup we tried non-decaf coffee which we ground extra fine in a little grinder, the non-fat milk and whipped it up again. It was better but the milk was weak.

Third time's the charm.

Anyways that's all we've done this morning and afternoon. Coraline's taking a nap, Alejandro is playing on his computer.... some game or whatever, and based on what I can hear, my mom's cleaning something in the Kitchen and my dad's playing his tank game.

All in all... Our Christmas festivities were all pretty limited to yesterday... When we opened our presents. But it was fun to hang out and fail at making coffee. Now we just need to play Eurorails and Jenga and then we're all good.

OOooooh. I found the ornaments. They're here... Gingerbread House Ornaments. I think they look adorable. Heee hee. The one we have is the "Townhouse" version. I think I like the Queen Anne Revival one best.

Mysteries and Books and... Psychics?

So Der Boifriend, his older sister Ro and I were walking around later tonight, just chilling and we decided we should go to B&N. So we did and we were walking around looking at journals for Rubles, my badminton buddy, some Star Wars books, I pointed out the fact that Battle Royale is the ORIGINAL Hunger Games, and is better written, pointed out a book for UP (which is in my top 10 of movies, along with The Hobbit, Bed-knobs and Broomsticks, and many classics from my childhood~).

Apparently, Ro loves amigurumi, which is new to me. I know she crochets and is learning how to knit, but I didn't know she liked something so Japanese. She's very stoically Irish and American (I blame homeschooling for all of her life), but I was pleasantly surprised. BIRTHDAY PRESENT IDEA~

So we were looking around and I found a plushie version of Bilbo Baggins. Complete with fuzzy feet, his red coat and a little scarf. And Sting. Which is a necessity. But no Gandalf, which made me sad on many levels (I was planning to buy him for Der Boifriend, but since there was none and they probably won't get a shipment before Christmas I decided against waiting and bought him something else. HAHAHA I'm not telling my love~) (<= He reads all of my posts.)

Anyways so we were bored and were walking around and Ro and I decided to go to the mystery section of the store and flip all the books around so you saw the pages and not the spines.

And I got a picture!

Sorry Barnes and Noble clerks!
It took us about five minutes of furiously turning them around, one by one so that they were still in order. It was really fun actually. Now I know why being a deviant is so desirable... it's quite thrilling doing things you're not allowed to do normally.

Anyways that's basically all I did today. I slept in until noon, watched TV while I was painting my mom's Christmas presents, and then played Battleship over facebook chat with Der Boifriend.

And it was really funny too. We wrote the 10 by 10 grid on a piece of paper, one for each of us, and began to play. I beat the crap out of him. It wasn't really a competition. I hit 17 of my 27 tries. And most of my tries were next to the ships. He hit 10 of 27.

This just adds to the fact that he thinks that I'm psychic.

I finish everybody's sentences, I know exactly what they're thinking and say it out loud, I tend to be very lucky with games like this (card and board games), I have dreams where the dream comes true and so on and so forth. So once I was bored and chatting with him and Bean online and took a psychic test.

My result was (while I was actually trying) was usually somewhere close to 65%. And the probability of it was close to 30%. That added it on to. Bean was thoroughly convinced that I'm psychic. I tell him there are none but whatever.

Speaking of which, Bean's a funny nickname isn't it? He wanted to be Bane... like the character from The Dark Knight. So while he, Der Boifriend and I were chatting online (which we do quite often until the wee hours of the morning and I fall asleep) he told us that. So Der Boifriend, being the weird Celtic boy he is spelled it Baen 'cause it looked cooler and you pronounce it the same.

And so me, who was very tired and didn't read it right decided to call him Bean.

Poor poor Bean... He doesn't even like the name... Oh well whatever. He's used to being the verbal punching bag of the group. For some reason he just sets himself up like that ALL THE TIME. Der Boifriend and I think that perhaps he does it on purpose...

Technical Difficulties Fixed!

Update 12/19 1:23pm I FIXED IT. I had to change the layout choice to something else but it looks just as cool!

I was changing the format for the layout (including a major overhaul of how everything functions) and I came across a bug in the system. I didn't add any custom CSS in it or anything... this annoys me slightly.

Anyways please excuse the boring blog layout... I'm waiting for somebody to get back to me to help fix it!

Licorice and Gummy Bears and... Finals

So on Sunday I made a gingerbread house. Or at least... I was going to. I looked around for a gingerbread house kit and NONE WAS TO BE FOUND. Except one for $10 but I'm not going to spend that on gingerbread that nobody eats. So instead I decided to make it out of graham crackers instead!

So I bought one of those store-brands (Like Kirkland) and just ASSUMED that the graham crackers were the size of the normal ones. A rectangle that you break into four other rectangles. Normal right?

NOPE.

Mine were only little squares that break into two rectangles. LAAAME. So I was forced to do more stacking than what was really necessary in order to build a frame to make the house. I was thinking I'd go for a Victorian style... but then I built it too wide at the base. It now looks more like a church... whatever. Makes sense. Gingerbread house... church... they both reference Christianity... Close enough for government work.

So from there I built a spire on the side (which just adds to the church look) and then VERY TENDERLY placed a roof on top.

You should really see the supports for the roof. I'm not joking... the thing is hovering in midair. And it leans downwards on one side.

Props to Der Boifriend for helping me hold that damn roof on straight.

I have learned... nothing. Other than the fact that I want to make a gingerbread house out of crackers again next year that looks like Falling Water. AKA this...
Falling Water House, Frank Lloyd Wright 1930

Wouldn't that just make an awesome gingerbread house? I BET IT WOULD.

Anyways my favorite treats are licorice and gummy bears. Why? I love black licorice. Ooh no... my hipster is showing. But I love the flavor. It's much cooler than the strawberry flavored ones. And I'm very picky. Australian licorice is GREAT. Never eat the salted stuff.... t'is just bad.

So behind my church I glued two gummy bears face to face with royal icing. Der Boifriend tried to go in for a kiss but we're BOTH sick with DIFFERENT stuff... so it was only a peck on the cheek. Poor Boifriend. He hasn't been kissed on the lips in days. Sorry... but we're sick and I don't want it to last any longer.

Anyways my last final was today. Well... my two finals. One was a very interesting one and the other was take-home internet-is-okay-because-nobody-knows-the-answers-anyway type of test. The interesting one was something like this.

You can either do 50 multiple choice questions (my route), write 2 essays including all this stuff in order for it to incorporate the whole semester's worth of information into one test, or 30 multiple choice questions and 1 essay.

I don't like writing essays but my friend 'Zu does. Apparently... She and I have the same teacher so I tutored her on all the basics of being prepared for this stuff. Not that I'm prepared. But I am good at forcing others to do so. So we gathered at my house and I lent her the book that she needed to pull quotes from (she didn't even have hers for the midterm poor soul...) and started outlining the basic concepts and some information for 4 of the 6 essay possibilities.

See my way of thinking is this. Multiple choice are great for people who don't feel like explaining themselves. They just mark the answer and it's either right or wrong. Essays are great for people who don't know all the details but can concisely develop a concept into an argument in five seconds. Me... I usually go for the first one. It's also much faster so I have more time to doodle in the margins of the Scantron.

Which I've been meaning to say...

(At least for my teacher) I can doodle on the unused areas of the Scantron... even those areas made for bubbling in the answers, and I DON'T GET POINTS OFF.

So I challenge thee... try that on a low-point quiz one day and see if it works for everybody... It might become a fad...

The Shire, The Rain and... Clarinets?

This is what the sky of my hometown looks like after the rain.

THE HOBBIT WAS SO VERY GOOD.

The cinematography: perfect.

The soundtrack: perfect.

The link between the soundtrack from the rest of the LOTR and Hobbit: UNEXPECTED AND LOVELY

The plot: (as related to me through 'Der Boyfriend') Aligns well with book.

The length: For midnight it might be hard without caffeine or sufficient sleep. Any other time would be perfect.

The actors/actresses: PERFECT~ (Cumberbatch~ Though you only see a hazy image of him not his whole beautiful form yet. And MARTIN FREEMAN WAS PERFECT~ Though in the later to come movies their meeting (s) will be a SHERLOCK REUNION PARTY~~~~~) (You should see me right now... I'm fan-girling as I write this... Deer Lawd what have I come to?)

Anyways it's been raining on and off. And it rained after the Hobbit. So what did "Der Boifriend" an his brothers decide to do? RUN THROUGH IT.  Sorry to say that I was smart and had an umbrella. The Russian caps (look like this) I carried back to the car for safe keeping.

We watched it on Friday morning. It is Saturday night and my hiking boots I wore because they have good arch support are STILL drying. I was going to wear my rain boots, but because of the eminent line that we thought would be outside I decided not to wear them. I should have. My jeans were soaked from knee down afterwards. I tried to hold an umbrella, three Rooskie caps and run after the boys on the way back.

Yup didn't work.

It was fun though.

Anyways... Michaels sells (or at least they did before they ran out) Gingerbread houses. And on Sunday (tomorrow) I'm going to hang out with "Der Boifriend" and some other peeps and build Gingerbread houses. But because my word sold out of them and I'm LAZY at nine at night I decided I'd buy graham crackers instead. I'm planning on making a house that's very Victorian inspired. And I have to do a little turret-tower... though how it's going to actually get done I have no clue.

I will do my best though! If it turns out well I'll post pictures. Now that I have the cord for my camera I should be able to get my phone's pictures off of it faster than I did before... hahahahahaha.... (I failed...)

Anyways... I have almost 400 page-views. THANKS ALL~

Though I might just change the layout... AGAIN.

Hahahaha... don't get mad at me. I'm one of the most indecisive people you'll ever see... or read her rants about.

Anyways. I should rant some more. It's very relaxing.

I've been meaning to start a page entitled "A Million and One Ways to Keep a Healthy Level of Insanity". I think I'd be good at it. And to let you know I typed that normally and went back to capitalize things. I make too many typos for the capitalization of random letters to be ACCURATE.

Unlike one of my friends I shall call Zu (Like Zoo...) It's the last two letters of her name... and since saying the first half sounded too much like her twin sister's I decided to make a distinction between them.

Anyways they finished this Type-To-Learn thing on our elementary's computers MONTHS ahead of the cut-of line for finishing a certain number of them. They were so good we had them finish OURS because after level nine... it was too much of a gap to be possible for normal human fingers.

Especially mine. I'm a clarinetist. I do not finger a violin at mach 4 and run a bow over strings at mach 2. I play at max mach 1... and my fingerings are methodical and easy. Unlike flutists.

Which I must say they seem like they have a hard time. Their fingers are always going in different directions. In my old elementary, in 3rd grade you had to chose either strings or vocal music. In 4th we got to chose between vocal, stringed and now wind instruments. We had 21 flutes... 13 trumpets and 5 clarinets.

In sixth grade we had 3 flutes, 1 trumpet, 2 trombone players who failed, 1 bassoonist and 5 clarinetists.

And 4 of those clarinets were the same.

Aquarium Pictures!

I finally found the cord that my brother lent me that I can use to take the pictures off my phone. Now I have about a hundred more spaces that I can fill up. So here are the good pictures! :) (My phone's pretty old so the photos are pretty bad...)
I like the guy's stripes. They're awesome.

I AM ADDICTED TO PENGUINS.

I think he was asleep and floating at the same time.

I'M KING OF DA ROCK!

Dory was being annoying... She was swimming so fast that
I couldn't get a good shot... WHY!!

So pretty~

JELLYFISH!!!! JELLIES!! THEY'RE SO CUUUUTE~~~

I have no clue what the white bits are here...

I couldn't get a good shot of Dory before but NOW I HAVE
NEMO TOO!

This guy was GLOWING. It was too awesome not to take
a picture...
It took me about five tries but I TOUCHED ONE. It kept
eluding my grasp...

Hobbits and Movies and... Gingerbread?

I GET TO SEE THE MIDNIGHT PREMIER OF THE HOBBIT TOMORROW!

I've never seen a midnight premier of anything so I'm extra excited! And I'm seeing it with Der Boifriend and some of his siblings and another of my friends so I'm super enthusiastic about staying up REALLY late and then having to go to work the next day. Luckily I don't have work until three so I'm golden~

Anyways I slept in until noon again today. I did this on Monday and now today...

I have a feeling that this isn't good. But it feels so nice to be completely rested that I just can't help sleeping in a couple more hours.... and a few more hours after that...

Oh Gawd I need to stop doing that.

Anyways... THE HOBBIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm considering dressing up but only if Der Boifriend dresses up with me... If I dress up with somebody else and we plan it all then it's not so embarrassing. Anywhoozle I will have to make whatever it is I wear... I don't have much fabric either and no time to buy some (since it premiers tomorrow and I have class until four...) ERGH. I shall start now and (if I have time) post up how it goes.

Time to search the internet for free patterns... yay...

Anyways I have to buy a gingerbread house from work so I can decorate it on Sunday... if I don't have work until midnight like it's been usually. Dammit...

Cowls and Yarn and... Ornaments

So today I decided to begin tackling one of my last Christmas presents on my list. My brother's long time girlfriend's scarf.

Which I just decided to make into a cowl instead.

I don't know... cowls seem cool and modern and scarves seem classic. So I decided to do something more modern because it seems more like her style. And the color is to die for. It's a rich teal color that is perfect with her skin tone.

So when I was researching different things to do I came across a pattern where you use super chunky yarn. Mine's a normal weight so it wouldn't work. But since I already bought the yarn for its color a couple months ago for a different (failed/postponed) project I didn't really want to go out and have to FIND the yarn. It's really hard to find chunky yarn, just in case you were wondering. And I work for Michaels. And we don't even carry that thick of yarn. I mean this stuff is supposed to be about an inch thick. AN INCH.

So I thought to myself... I have a little circle knitter (or whatever they're called... they look like this) and knit the yarn for it.

Then I sat down to watch some TV while I knitted and it took me about half an hour to get a foot down.

Now here's my geek side showing.

There are 15 days before Christmas (but I'll go with 14 since it's midnight.) That means that there are 24 hours times 15 days for a total possibility of 432 hours. That would make about 432 feet, or 144 yards of crocheting fabric. (I'm using fabric for lack of a better word.) Now that's not including the time I have to eat, sleep, go to work, and go to school... and the other time I spend doing other things. Let's say then, that I got about three hours of work in everyday. So that brings the amount down to 45 hours and 45 feet, which is 15 yards. Now the pattern that I have requires at LEAST 170 yards of material.

No go.

So I had this long strand of stuff that I'd done and I thought... hey. I can use this for the base of a scarf! So I started crocheting along the strand and at the ends tied them to make a circle. Now while I was doing that I didn't notice (fail) that the knitted bit that I was crocheting around had twisted. Oops. So now the scarf was spiraling. Now that won't work.

Then I decided... hey! Let's make a rippled scarf!

So far it looks pretty good... though I must say it has a kind of spirally pattern in the different layers I stitch that wasn't intended but looks interesting.

All in all I have about three inches (in thickness) of a cowl done and  it took me three hours...

Deer Lawd... Thank God I can crochet fast...

Anyways yesterday afternoon we bought a Christmas tree. Today I invited Der Boifriend over to help decorate it.

He wasn't much of a help. He unwrapped the ornaments and went on chatting with my mom while I put up everything. My mom told me how to put the lights up and then, as she puts it, "Managed" the work we were doing.

So you know how you forget what kinds of ornaments that you have until you unwrap them? Well apparently I had a HEDGEHOG ornament. It's so cute! It's made of wood and the shells of (I think) pistachios. I saw it and I told my mom that when she dies I get it. Then she reminded me that she bought one for my brother and I to have one Christmas and gave it to us as stocking-stuffers. Sure enough, my name and the year was written on the bottom of it.

SCORE

I've always wanted a hedgehog.

So now I have about ten ornaments people have given me over the years, including that one and a gaudy one my Oma gave to me that is huge, heavy, and plays music when you wind it and open up the doors. Let's just say that one's just for making sure that the tree doesn't topple over...

Feet and Boots and Trees

So about an hour and a half ago I just got off of a 8 hour shift at work... from 3pm until 11pm... Which means I get the afternoon rush AND the closing shift.

Never doing that again.

Anyways so I just so happened to wear the WRONG shoes. My boots, which are cute as hell, have no arch support AND almost no sole AND ZERO traction. Joy.

So I resorted to sliding around the store all day.

Anyways my dad and I jilted my mom into buying a Christmas tree today. YAY.

We won.

In other news tomorrow I have an early shift... which means I need to get to sleep STAT.

Also tomorrow morning I need to get up at like six and be to work at 9. And pay for my next month of cell phone coverage. OH. And I forgot my account pin and after three tries it LOCKED ME. Rawr.

In summary.... I'm tired, hyped up on sugar from broken candy canes we can't sell... in that last sentence I typed candy three times then remembered I had already typed that word... Christmas is approaching and I have no life.

I was actually mumbling a made up song entitled "I Have No Life" under my breath while I walked around the store today. I think some customers were amused.

Watercolors and Storybooks and... Forgetting

So today I got to school and realized... I'd forgotten my pencil case. Luckily, I'd taken some pens out of the case and dropped them into my bag for some unknown reason.

Then when I got to lunch I saw my boyfriend sitting on the ground and apparently he had locked his keys in the car. Oops. And nobody is at his house, since his sister is in L.A., his dad is in Ireland, his mom's on a job and his brothers aren't old enough to drive. So he had to be driven to his house and then he could get the keys and drive back home whenever he needed.

Then my friend Bean (He wanted to be called Bane but Der Boyfriend spelled it Baen and I read... Bean. I'm just a little bit dyslexic... hahahahaaaa...) had accidentally taken his brother's backpack to school and when he got to his first class wondered why the heck somebody had put random things in his backpack.

Oh Bean...

So yep. All of these things compiled on top of each other made for a very interesting day...

Other than that my art teacher decided that since I was good at using pens to do drawings that I would do well as an Illustrator. WHICH I LOVE. I want to be an illustrator. It seems like so much fun. I've always wanted to draw the pictures for a children's book and color them with watercolors and it'd be beautiful and so much fun.

I just love the look of watercolors. They're so much fun to look at and to layer over and over and over again... I really love the feel of them... And the paint moves so nicely...

I really should get to making one. Perhaps I should ask one of my friends to write the story... Onee-chan's great at writing stories for kids. I'm not that good at writing stories for kids... Adults yes but children most definitely not.

Boredom and Soup and... Elephants?

Um... The title is misleading.

I am bored... I wanted to have soup for lunch but since I was at work it was a NO...

And nothing in my day involved elephants.

I just added in elephants because it sounded different.

Anyways yes. I had nothing special happen to me today.

Tried and failed for the second time to get time off of work... didn't happen.

The bus was a bit late on a slightly rainy day.

The sun came out at noon even though I willed it to stay raining longer.

And I am almost finished with my Christmas presents for my aunts... The trees covered in jewelry.

So yeah. Nothing interesting really happened to me.

Though I must say that I have a sudden obsession with YouTube techno music now... Like Savlonic... and some other random things like the song "Russian Dancing Men". SO DAMN CATCHY.

Here's a couple links to three of my favorites...

Other than that... I bid you an adieu.

Savlonic's The Driver

Trees and Jewelry and... 199?

Hahahaha 199 page views. I feel oddly happy about getting the number BEFORE 200.

Anyways today I put up the miniature Christmas tree. But I convinced my mum to let me put it downstairs on the credenza that we have at the nook by the corner in the stairs. I stuck it back in the corner, decorated 3/4 of it, and added a color changing light behind it.

IT'S SO PSYCHEDELIC. Especially when all the lights are turned off.

The tree's a bright, shiny teal color, all the ornaments are either hand-made by myself or gifts from other people. They're all white, silver and black with a bit of Tiffany Blue. It makes for a very nice combination. (NOTE: to people who have goofy-colored trees... don't use multicolored ornaments. They just look silly and gaudy...)

Anyways the light behind it changes from green to blue gradually... it's really trippy to watch. I bet if you were high or really tired it might be awesome beyond belief.

Other than that my mom and I are doing the jewelry trees that I said we were going to do. So far we have one of two mostly finished... Luckily I bought a ton of pieces of jewelry from that one Craigslist guy so now we have TONS extra.

Yay.

I will post up the pictures of the tree when both are finished and I have the kitchen counter cleaned off... which might be never seeing as though the counter is the largest work space of anywhere in my house. It's huge. The area we use is actually like an island... just attached to a wall so we call it a peninsula. It makes for a great all around catch all for every family project and piece of junk on the face of the earth.

Work was normal. I have very little to say today since it was a full 8 hour shift and I'm VERY tired right now. But tired is good. I GET PAID A TON~ (in respect to the checks I've been getting recently... which're not as much...)

Booze and Bruises and... Rabbits?

RABBIT! Hahaha! My friend long ago told me that if you said "Rabbit" to somebody on the first day of the month, and "Rabbit" was the first thing you said to them that day, it'd give them good luck.

So there. I hast bestowethed upon you the immense joy of good lucketh.

Now go and read more books.

Anyways, I had a six hour shift today... I'm pretty tired. But the tired of being on your feet tired and not the I want to go to sleep early nap.

And I have a problem getting up in the morning.

Dammit.

And tomorrow I have to leave for the bus at 7:50 am...

Why does the bus system hate me so much...? I will get to my work an hour early (before I think it opens even) and then have to wait for my shift to start, be there for 8 hours, then wait for the bus back home, getting home TEN hours after I left my house.

Dammit... I should take some sleeping pills NOW or something but I dislike them.

Anywho after work my boyfriend and the photographer friend "La Photographia" met up with my boyfriend's old school mates from high school. It was fun... But I'm under-aged so I can't drink and they're all college students that can drink and smoke and crap... One brought a cigar... I didn't like the smell. Anyways so my boyfriend's sister, who's pretty fun to be around, drunk a margarita. Afterwards, she was much more amusing.

Do you know that Par Kour move where you jump over a fence? So my boyfriend was trying to teach it to me after work... and lo and behold I was wearing hiking boots. And I cannot do anything but walk and hike with those klunky things on my feet. So I bumped into the top of the (embarrassingly short) fence with the top of my knee.

Now here's what's perfect for me.

I like bruises. It's a weird love... One you shouldn't tell a person you're going out with 'cause it's just plain creepy to some.

Anyways so I am now photographing my bruise daily to see how it changes over time.

See... bruises are rainbows of pain... as I like to say.

And I now officially unofficially coin that phrase. Huzzah.

(Sorry short post since nothing much happened today but yep.)

Valerian and Chamomile and... Jewelry?

So for my aunts' Christmas presents, my mum and I are making trees just like the ones at Roger's Gardens.
This is what they look like. Picture taken from the Rogers' Gardens website...
We raided our jewelry boxes and got a tremendous amount of things... but it didn't seem like anything we found had enough substance. They were mostly just a few beads and some pendants but nothing great.

So I was looking around Craigslist and saw somebody selling jewelry for $1. So I contacted them and asked if I could buy their spares and the ones that were broken beyond repair for cheaper. He (who I just assumed was a she) told me I could buy 10 things for $1. BEST. PRICE. EVER.

So 'Der Boifriend' and I went to the place. Herm. I didn't realize that this might not have been the best area in our county... I stay within a half-hour bus ride/ biking distance from my house... and that means that I stay in the nicer areas. When I learn how to drive my moped (I'm working on a driver's license, then going to take the class) I will broaden my radius and hopefully pursue more things further away.

I want to visit more tea and coffee shops. There was one in a neighboring town a good drive away that a Hello-Kitty obsessed friend took me to with a couple others. He recommended the orange tea and it was DELICIOUS. (I took their idea of using the rinds, cutting off the pulp, drying them and then steeping them in place of tea. It worked wonders and if you use tangerine peels, it's easy to de-pulp and the smell is AWESOME.)

So we pilfered through this guy's jewelry box for what seemed like ten minutes, and left with a good amount of stuff. I filled a gallon sized freezer bag 1/3 full and got it for $7, rounding up. It was more like $6.50 but I didn't have change.

So anyways I've been having trouble sleeping... and I don't like the idea of taking medication. I always feel like I'll overdose since I'm so tiny or that I'll become dependent on it or something. So I like looking up natural or home remedies. Most of them work well. When in doubt... C4. When sick... black tea with honey and lemon. My favorite cure-all.

Anyways so I noticed reading somewhere that Valerian was supposed to be good for people with insomnia and is good for people trying to get to sleep. That's my main concern... sometimes it takes me hours of tossing and turning and (weirdly enough) trying to create seed-dreams in my mind. Though these usually never work... they seemed to help me sleep when I was a kid...

And ever since Gawd-knows-when I've known that chamomile is supposed to be good for sleeping too. So I'll see if I can find Valerian tea or something at my local hipster-market and some chamomile tea.

I think I drank chamomile tea once.

I don't remember anything but the color. Imagine... well... yellow ochre paint mixed with a ton of water. That was it.

Yes I just described what you thought I described that way.

So yeah. That's been my day.

Work wasn't bad. Though this chick did come to me wanting to return a bunch of items and then buy them again using a different coupon... normally we wouldn't do it but the cashier called our manager and she said it was OK. So I got landed with typing all the codes in manually... TWICE. And don't get me wrong... these are 12-16 digit codes, not to mention the barcode at the top doesn't scan so I have to type in that 24 digit long code (I should count the numbers in my spare time.)

So that was SO MUCH FUN.

My leg just fell asleep. Perhaps I should stand up and run around the house singing "Ding Dong the Wicked Witch is Dead..." from the Wizard of Oz. Gawd I loved being in that play.

Headaches and Books and... Pirate Skulls?

So today was one of those days...

I slept in, napped for two hours after school and then am still tired now...

I blame it on the weather! And the fact that I stayed up until about 1:30am reading a book my friend lent me. IT'S SO GOOD. Oh Em Gee... Hahaha! I can understand the main character/narrator's perspective so well its like it was written for me.

Other than that I've had a headache for a while now. I have a feeling I'm going to have a migrane all month. I have to deal with finals starting soon... (though I only have one class) and then my work decided not to allow us to request time off so we have to change our availability... which is not always checked. And if they don't allow it... I'm going to have to figure out how to get somebody to cover up to five shifts of work... all to go to my grandparents in Santa Barbra and hang out at their house for a couple days and then have Christmas Eve off. 'Cause who doesn't want to spend Christmas Eve chilling by the fire and drinking hot cocoa?

Which I meant to get a recipe for earlier today so my mom and I could make our own but I took a nap instead.

Which most young people think is an 'old' thing to do, but if you have a headache it's one of the BEST things that you can do for it. Seriously. If you have a headache, or get them often, WATER and NAPS are your best friends. Try not to take aspirin and stuff too often. After a while those things won't work as effectively as they did before so you'll have to take more, and then you'll have a massive chance to overdose on an OTC drug.

Hee hee. The OTC dude looks like the OTL man. In my sleepy mind he does. It's just the OTC man is a contortionist and the OTL man is just a normal human being.

Anyways in my art class that I'm taking I just doodled a couple things... nothing special really. But the group that I'm always around makes a HUGE DEAL about whatever I do. I don't know... I guess they're good? Anyways when I get around to taking a picture of the scarf from last time (Here) and then the stuff from this time I'll get to showing you.

I am a procrastinator. Or at least... I will be when I get around to it.

So after my art class my friend happened to be driving by in her car and decided to give me a ride. So I got in and both of the back seats were down. Which is odd but whatever. So I sat inbetween the middle seats and the center console by the driver and shotgun seat in a crouch. And I noticed something.

She'd taken down the drooping ceiling fabric, painted the whole thing black, and turned the roof into a picture of a skull and cross bones with the caption "Dead Men Tell No Tales". Which is perfect for her car.

'Cause it's the Black Pearl.

No joke. It has two decals on either side of the sliding doors, it has a decal on the front (all skull and cross bones) she has a Jack Sparrow Mickey Mouse antenna ball (you know those things...) and she has a pirate hat and a sword that she drives around with. She wears the hat. And when there's a passenger (used to be me before and after school during high school) that person who's riding in the shotgun seat gets to brandish a sword everywhere.

It's quite fun...

So now her car is even more like the Black Pearl. Now I just need to get her a small antenna flag or those ones that Ambassador's cars have... You've probably seen them. The flanking double flags that flutter as you drive. They're great.

Anyways the book is CALLING TO ME. I should get about to reading it... along with the five other books people lent me.

If you have a suggestion for a good book please comment. I'm always looking for something to get off my Kindle. I don't think I use it often enough so now I'm making more excuses to be on it more often.

Now if I could just write my notes for class that'd be golden... I could... but I'd want a keyboard.

TO THE INTERNET~

Tea and Crumpets and Trees... Again

Ho hum.

I feel a bit sick today. As in feverish. That might be because I'm wearing two layers of everything... but that's beside the point. I only just started feeling it ten minutes ago... when I've been wearing this for about three hours already. Inside. Under my comforter. In a room with little to no ventilation. You'd think that I'd have started feeling sick or warm before but nope...

And my toes are cold.

But that's beside the point.

So today I didn't have work so I just chilled around my house for the morning (which is a long way of saying I slept in until 11) and hung out with 'Der Boifriend' for another couple hours.

We had tea and cocoa at his friend's place we'd seen yesterday (description here -->Coffee and Cocoa and... Trees?) and afterwards he had work. His name forever shall be 'La Photographia' because I asked and he answered that.

So I kept working on the scarf that I made for 'Der Boifriend'. Here's the picture of what I have so far. The pattern is random, in regards to the color choices. They were the remnants from a Doctor Who scarf that my mom is/was making me for Christmas. I'm not sure if she's finished... she said she was but then again she bought two skeins of some colors and didn't use them... Last I saw she just needed the tassles and then to stretch the scarf to the full 12 foot length... I'm so excited!!! >U<

The pattern of the yarn itself is called "honeycomb" and is a Tunisian style of crocheting. It's in between crocheting and knitting and I like it. It's very easy to follow and comprehend.

I just realized that that smiley is the first one I have used so far. Perhaps I should use more... I usually talk with them. They're great for showing emotions! But I shall restrain the annoying usage of them for now... I'll work them in slowly and only do a few.

So yeah. His scarf. It looks like this so far (folded up and such but it is about five feet now.)

I have to finish the length (which is when I run out of both yellow, grey and white...) and then weave the excess on the sides into the scarf so that they don't show.

Boifriend you better be pleased with this or else.

OH! Here's the picture of the scarf...

(The picture will be belated because my ridiculous camera ran out of battery as I was taking it... It needs to charge now...)

Anyways then afterwards we were supposed to go to Kron again at the local college but it was a no-go. Apparently, there was a threatened rain storm or something.

All I saw were some meaningless light grey clouds. Not those angry black ones that roll in from the coast, hit the breeze from the Inland Empire and then turn into a massive hail storm.Which usually happens during the summer but that's another issue entirely.

So instead he and I went to the coffee shop again. I had Chai tea and he had a Mayan hot cocoa. It was spiced but I didn't notice it until the end. I kept stealing sips from his 'cause Chai tea is smooth in flavor and needs something else entirely to spice it up again.

His friend brought us whipped cream that was eggnog flavored while we were chatting. In little espresso cups with spoons that were sticking out of the top like a little flag or something. I thought it looked comical. They were on the verge of toppling over too.

So I have never tasted eggnog before. I've heard it's slimy and has alcohol in it... and as I don't like the taste of alcohol I have yet to try it. So 'Der Boifriend' tried it for me and told me to try it.

IT WAS DELICIOUS.

Nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, apple juice and other things were all woven into the rich foam and it gently reminded you of the flavor of the holiday season. All we needed was it liquified into a drink and then to be standing in front of a giant Christmas tree covered in gently twinkling lights and classy ornaments, with songs softly playing and a fire crackling merrily off to the side.

Which reminds me. We have decided for our Christmas Tree gag to use a small tree instead of a huge one. This was decided for a couple reasons.

A: We wanted to give my parents a good present as well, and since the cost of a tree would be just shy of the cost of a present we voted for a cheaper option.
B: My parents keep telling me "I don't know" or "Maybe" when I ask them if we're getting a tree. What happens if they were going out on the date and when they returned decided to buy a tree and then we had one already? Our living room isn't big enough for two trees... It can barely fit one.
C: 'Der Boifriend' had an idea. We would get a tiny one that the grocery stores sell, decorate it with my tree's decorations, and write a note saying "A real tree wouldn't fit into 'Der Boifriend's' car... So we got you this instead."
D: We also considered the fact that both my dad, brother and I wouldn't clean up after the tree. You have to keep it watered and vacuum up the fallen needles...and since there's almost no chance we'll do it for my mom she'd have to do it. And that's one of the main reasons why she didn't want a tree this year.

So it's decided. Now... I just need to abuse the coupon policy at my work and get some mini lights for the mini tree... and send my parents on a date later on in December.

But not too late 'cause I have a final to study for. I think the test is on the 18th or something like that... I should check.

Deer Lawd... I had to change my work schedule calendar to December because it's just a couple days away! EGADS.

Coffee and Cocoa and... Trees

So today I went with 'Der Boifriend' to his old friend's workplace... which happened to be a great coffee shop. I actually love it there.

Everything's dim and warm looking. The pendant lights hanging from the ceiling are awesome and twist slightly as they fall. On the tip they have little tassels like on curtains in old, rich people's houses. The whole place was active but quiet. And not an awkward quiet. It was a good kind of quiet, where everybody's happy and drinking or eating a croissant and reading the newspaper. There were some hipsters there (you can tell by the women.... if they wear a hat... hipster. If they wear a headband... just a popular crowd person) but it wasn't so annoyingly so that it was not a place anyone can go.

And their cocoa was AWESOME. The boyfriend got that. It was rich and smooth and probably made with bittersweet chocolate, like the chunks in chocolate chip cookies. It's great! And if you're one of those people who like milk chocolate... there's a reason why bittersweet and dark chocolates are better.

You don't get tired of the sweetness.

It's just enough that it sedates your sweet tooth (mine for five seconds but who cares...?) and it still gives you the full flavor of the bold, dark richness of the chocolate. And what with the whipped cream and foam and stuff that they layer on top of it... You wouldn't notice that the chocolate was bittersweet.

Oh oh ohoh...! My favorite part of cocoa and teas are the last, final dregs. With cocoa you get the full punch of chocolatey goodness and with tea, the last finishing note of the drink washes over your tongue and leaves it feeling refreshed and (in the case of the tea I had today) warm.

And actually, the had a mint tea, and if you take a couple sips of the tea and then one of the cocoa it's THE BEST. Kind of like drinking a peppermint patty or York or something like that. DELISH!

So we were sitting there hoping that his friend would go off work and we were just talking about stuff. Turns out just before his friend could sit down and chat with us 'Der Boifriend"s mum called and wanted him home.

Phooey.

And so he dropped me off... I had dinner with the family, and afterwards my mom and I were talking while watching TV and I remembered something.

This would be the first year in about 30 years that our family wouldn't have a Christmas tree... including the years when my brother and I weren't born.

Anywhoozle I asked her if she planned on getting one this year and she was vague and said "Maybe..." and all of those parent-y crap that basically means that it's a NO but they haven't finalized it yet. But it was fine.

You know why?

'Der Boifriend' and I had hatched a plan to force my parents out to a dinner and a movie and whilst they were away on their merry date we would buy a tree, proceed to drop it off at my house, and hopefully put lights, ornaments, and everything on it. And when they came back (which we were planning on forcing them to a whole afternoon's event because it sounded like it'd take a TON of time) it would be all perfect and waiting for them.

I like this plan.

The only problem is... I can't drive. Well... I refuse to drive NORMAL cars. I have been... for lack of a better word PRESSURED into learning how to drive and THEN getting a Moped or a Vespa.

And I approve of this plan too.

As I approve of many things random and fun sounding.

So... I've decided that if we do that... (Der Boifriend and I) it'll be our Christmas present to the two of them. What with all the work and the amount of planning it makes up for the small-ish price tag. Per person per giftee it's about ten bucks or maybe 15 depending on the tree but hey... WE GET A TREE.

Nuclear Bombs and Glitter

Glitter.
Everywhere.

IT'S GOING TO EAT ME ALIVE!

I swear the people that work and shop at my work are CRAZY for glitter. To an almost inhuman extent. Everyday after work I have to brush myself off in front of a mirror to make sure that I have all the glitter off of me. I can't deal with it if I kept it on for any longer then I need to.

Seriously.

It covers the cash register, it covers the floors, the shelves, us... EVERYWHERE.

The whole store is glittering. With glitter...

In other news still haven't done much else to my essay... though I really should.

It's just... I don't like Political Science... It's nothing close to my major (art) so I really don't want to do it... but I must... it's a great transferable class but still... must I?

I guess. Time to stop moaning and complaining and get that stupid thing done.

But my major problem is my level of perfectionism. Unless I've been working on the thing for more than a week it HAS TO BE PERFECT. No joke. You should see me when I'm painting... any mistake I make and I automatically have it in the plan that when the paint dries THAT MISTAKE IS GOING DOWN. Command-and-Conquer style. Not Halo style... old school NUCLEAR ESCALATION STYLE.

Have you ever played that game? Nuclear Escalation? It's a really old (and I mean 80s game) board game and it's hilarious. The whole premise of the game is to be the last one standing after the nuclear fights. Imagine the Cold War if it got Hot instead of Cold.

And when you die, you have the option (which isn't really the best name for it because EVERYBODY decides to do this) to launch ALL your nukes at another player.

Which usually kills them... and you can see what they do.

So most of the time everybody dies "The End" type of story.

But when you're that winner at the end... Life is good. Life is very good. And you decide to celebrate by running around the house basking in your awesomeness and glory and so on and so forth.

Anywhoozle... that is what I've been thinking about.

Glitter and nuculear bombs.

Essays and Letters...and Batman

So this morning... at 2am I sat up from making my boyfriend his scarf and realized... that I had an essay due in two days. So I was planning on waking up early to get it done.

Which never happens if I stay up until 2...

So anyways I slept in until 11am... which is mostly because of my nice and warm comforter but also in part because der boifriend (as he is called, of his own request, in my cell phone) did not text.

His texts usually wake me up. It is imperative that I read them~

Anywhoozle yeah... So for the past 45 minutes I've been reading the prompt and looking up stuff on websites that point out the faults in what people say.

Oh yeah! My essay is (belated enough as my writing this is...) about the Presidential Campaign and the misinformation surrounding what they did and didn't say and what is true and just plain hooey.

Anyways so the debates are pretty interesting. I've been reading them... and from what I've seen Romney uses a lot-- a lot of dashes about-- about everything... It makes me wonder if they were for dramatic effect (which he would've been using a bit too much in my opinion) or if he really was stuttering a bit.

Which serves a purpose... Don't just read the debates online... Watch them if you have time! 'Cause I have a bias for anybody that uses --that uses this... I dislike it. And I just realized that... I do that... a lot. I shall be cutting back on elipses... wait. I just did another one. FOOEY. Oh well.

So my boyfriend told me that he was going to vote early by turning it in VIA the mail system

And by the way... I LOVE THE MAIL SYSTEM. To an almost un-Godly extent. My friends and I send letters back and forth to each other, even if we're in the same town. It's weird but hey, everybody likes snail mail!

Oh so my boyfriend and a few other people I know were so angry and tired of the campaigns that they voted for NANANANANANANANA BATMAN!!!

Which children, you shouldn't do... but it serves my purpose.

I live in a Democratic state but a Republican county. Haha... blame the adults with tons of money here. But my family tends to lean more Libertarian than anything. Which in my mind is closer to Republican than Democrat but technically it's in the middle and flung waaaaaaay out towards Anarchism. Which my history teacher in High School was... that was an interesting class to say the least. He had some of his old hair attached to the wall as a reminder to us all to never grow a mullet. It worked.

But I digress. So my friends and I, knowing that in our state we're going to go Democratic anyways no matter how five people vote, unlike Florida who always seems to be the turning point state and has a hard time deciding who won, the Democratic vote is assured.

So we, deciding we didn't care as much anymore, said the hell with it and voted for Batman.

All except little old me... I forgot to turn in my voter registration. Hee hee.

SO CHILDREN. A LESSON. Turn in your voter registration, plan how you vote... and don't be Florida. And send mail to friends. They will automatically love you in turn.

Woot~

More random rants coming your way! Hold on... the ride will get weirder and weirder when I have more time. AKA: Christmas break!

Senseless Advertising and Christmas Presents

So lately I've become more aware of what I do with my old things.

Like my jewelry that I don't want anymore or the clothes that I've murdered or grew out of. And stuff like that.

So I've decided to join Freecycle... Which (Senseless advertising) is a great website where you can offer up old things and get free things! It's great!

So I've also been making a Christmas present for two of my aunts. Have you ever seen those trees covered in jewelry at Rogers's gardens? Well neither have I but a bunch of little old ladies are obsessed with them at my work and my mom has caught wind of them and has decided that her two sisters TOTALLY need to have some for Christmas

Oh joyous occasion.

Actually, they're really fun. All we did to date was get all of our old jewelry and cut them apart, organizing them into colors... and deciding that we needed to get smaller Styrofoam cones for the tree bases.

Hahahaha...

In other news I'm always up at midnight, or there abouts. And I have slowly started making a scarf of the remnants my mom used for a 12 foot scarf for me for my Christmas present.

My family likes making things.

And we love free things too.

Senseless advertising.

Freecycle.org. GO CHECK IT OUT.

Yay~

Anyways... Guten nacht... Guten nacht...

Black Friday?

I have got to say, the Black Friday that I experienced wasn't that Black Friday as I expected.

I work at a Michaels store... and yesterday night from seven til close was my shift.

There was almost NOBODY there...

It was creepy....

But it was fun since we nine of us just chilled and slowly did everything that we needed to do. And I got to chat with my supervisor and now she loves me. Hee hee. Brownie points!

Which actually makes sense 'cause I'm still a Girl Scout.

I've been one since I was a wee little Brownie... And don't even get me started on how much easier it is for the midgets to sell cookies... don't even get me started...

'Cause they're small and cute and everybody expects them to be going door to door (which I did) and asking if you wanted to buy some. When a teenager with a weird khaki and blue uniform comes up, everybody just thinks 'What the hell?' and doesn't buy them...

I did have some regulars...

But if you're a Girl Scout Cadette, Ambassador or Senior... Bring the cookies to your local community college... You'll get a lot of sales that way...

And I'm slightly offended... nobody answered my question!!! POOP.

Perhaps questions aren't my forte...

Whatever.

So today is Small Business Saturday. BUY LOCAL! BUY SEASONAL! BUY SMALL BUSINESS! YEAH!!

Okay. Senseless advertising done.

Thanksgiving

Which consisted mainly of stuffing my face with delicious things provided by my mum and other foodstuffs.

And Scrabble. Which I sorely lost at because I only picked up tiles that were either R's, E's, I's or an F... which you can't really make many words out of. And we play mean. You see those corners? WE FILL THEM. You see a box forming? WE FILL THAT BOX IN. Dirty we do play...

And a James Bond marathon broken up by the ORIGINAL Pink Panther movies. I don't really like the new ones because it's just TOO goofy. Not that I don't like goofiness or anything, ('cuz I'm one of the most goofy people you'll probably meet) but it was so much that the movie lost its integrity of being a satire... Anyways my brother's girlfriend hadn't seen the first one (which mind you isn't the best but I digress) and so we watched it. The scenes where everybody's in the same room trying to hide from the Inspector is just classic.
Hmm. Classic. (small nod)

Horrah! I had a good time.

LOOK A QUESTION!
What's your favorite Thanksgiving tradition?

Jellyfish and Penguins

God we're so hipster.

My boyfriend and I were celebrating our Two Month's anniversary of dating (which in and of itself isn't that hipster) at...

THE AQUARIUM.

Jellyfish...

Which I believe is a very hipster thing to do really. All I did was ignore him a bit and run around like a child in a candy store high on chocolate Cocoa Puffs and take pictures of every adorable fish and penguin. And jellyfish.

There was even some that we classified as 'Rave Fish'.

As in they had fluorescent bits that would shine when there was even the faintest trace of light. Neat huh? And there was a type of jellyfish that even had a built in light show.

It was kind of awesome.

Anyways... I believe that I let my boyfriend down... I was so damn tired after walking around for hours in hiking boots (because they're the only shoe that has arch support) that he never really got me to act very 'happy'.

But he knew I was. It's hard not to tell when I hop around with a penguin cell phone charm dangling from my pocket and making jokes about everything.

Poor dude never got his make-out session he was hoping for...

Oops...

Not-So-Noob Swordswoman

So yesterday my boyfriend got me addicted to a German Swordsmanship group at a local college.

I wasn't planning on participating, but a guy named Peter handed me a sword and said "Here's what they're doing."

And after working with me for about twenty minutes, I'd gotten down a couple moves that he said I didn't do  'noobish', which made me feel happy.

I know a move to do when the two sword's hilts are together. I wrap my hilt and grip around the other person's arm, grab the pommel, drag the person down, and slice the person's throat. And from there I can also disarm the guy.

I feel like a boss.

And I can swing around the sword in 'correct' ways around my head and look like a boss.

But when I got home I realized how very 'hipster' I was acting. Deer Lawd...
